IPKO Telecommunications Adds Fine Point’s Latest ServPoET With Sun Technology To Support Broadband Services Growth
NEW YORK CITY, December 8, 2009 – Fine Point Technologies, Inc. today announced that Kosovo’s IPKO Telecommunications LLC (IPKO) is continuing to drive expansion of the country’s national communications network through the purchase of additional Fine Point ServPoET broadband management servers. Fine Point’s latest ServPoET solution, which runs on Sun, will enable IPKO to speed the deployment of broadband services, support a scalable operational model, and free up existing network resources to offer new wireline and mobile services.
IPKO began to incorporate Fine Point solutions in 2006 during post-wartime construction of its nationwide broadband network. IPKO is recognized as one of the fastest growing telecommunications companies in Europe, and a key player in advancing Kosovo’s economy.
“Fine Point’s ServPoET platform provides IPKO with a much more affordable alternative for network expansion, rather than simply adding more routers from larger brands like Cisco,” said Fine Point Technologies Chief Executive Officer, Todd Ruelle. “We have a proud history with IPKO since 2006, and have appreciated the opportunity to play a continuing pivotal role in support of Kosovo’s first ISP infrastructure.”
Fine Point’s ServPoET broadband management platform, which runs on Sun Microsystems, is a large-capacity PPPoE/PPPoA (Point Protocol over Ethernet /ATM) termination server, and was created to deploy high performance broadband services (DSL, Cable, Wireless, and BPL). Service providers worldwide use the ServPoET protocol server to aggregate, manage and scale up to support growth of broadband subscribers at nearly one-third of the cost of other solutions provided by larger competitors. Fine Point has sold and installed ServPoET in more than 300 locations around the globe.
IPKO Chief Executive Officer, Akan Ismaili, said, “Fine Point has been a great business partner and offers IPKO strong technology solutions at pricing which really allows our fast growing company to better optimize network investments, while scaling deployment of new IPKO services to more customers.”
