APRIL 19, 2021, HERNDON, VA –
Dear Fine Point Customer,
As you may be aware, the FCC announced in December that it was changing the report format for data submitted under the new speed testing regime. It also added the requirement that upload and download speed testing for a given subscriber be performed on the same evening, and suggested that all speed tests be performed at times when there is little or no other traffic on the line.
In response to these changes, Fine Point has updated its Speed Master module and now supports all of these requirements. Support for the suggested delay in testing when there is more that 64 kbps of “cross talk” on the line is particularly important to CAF recipients. Without this feature, testing could yield artificially low test speeds and adversely impact a carrier’s reported results. This, in turn, could affect government reimbursements.
If you already have the Speed Master module, your system will need to be upgraded to add the new features. If you are not currently a Speed Master customer and would like to learn more about Fine Point’s FCC Testing solution, please respond to this email or contact your local distributor.
All of us at Fine Point appreciate your continued business. Remote device management support during this pandemic, and we at Fine Point will serve your needs to address issues the resulting increase in broadband demand creates.
